Simon Shepherd

London born artist Simon Shepherd works from his studio in Brighton. His work explores the distinctions between the familiar and the unfamiliar, the natural and the manufactured.  Shepherd identifies and develops the beauty of the everyday object, and in doing so invites the viewer to reassess their expectations and perceptions of objects which surround us daily. Executing his work in clay, steel or wood allows Shepherd to realize his vision without limit, examples of which can be found in collections around the world.  Asked what motivates him, Shepherd explains that ‘’in a world of confusion and contradiction, it’s the only thing that makes any sense.’’ In 2011, Simon was awarded ‘Best in Show’ at the prestigious Cork Street Open.
