Dates : 17 October - 9 November, 2019
Vernissage : Thursday October 17th, 5-8pm

A painter since the late 1990s, Zoltan first navigated between graffiti, mural and oil painting. Also fascinated by the work of the great Spanish masters, he completed a bachelor’s degree in painting and drawing at Concordia (Montreal) in 2012, then a master’s degree at the University of Ottawa in 2018. During this last university course, he explores the evolution of different pictorial techniques and deconstructs the material image to graft the synthetic image onto it.

A post-graduation depression prompted Zoltan to draw images of cyberpunk comics, mangas, and video games from his teenage memories. In his work, he expresses, with the help of these personal references of popular culture, the multiplicity of the image in the era of new media. He is interested in the immersive impact and jerky narrative that digital interfaces allow. Zoltan uses the mash-up technique – assembling visual elements from different sources – to create narratives that can be interpreted as video game scenarios.
