Alexandra Levasseur | Solo exhibition
Alexandra Levasseur’s plastic practice proposes two dissimilar but not contradictory readings. A multidisciplinary artist, she paints, sculpts, and animates driven by a deep interest in, on the one hand, a scientific approach to the relationship between humankind and nature, and, on the other, the mythological, even mystical interpretation that one can draw from it. Dialogue | Ooloosie Saila & Josiane Lanthier
For C.O.A, this exhibition marks an opportunity to bring together two favourites: two emerging artists in their early thirties who paint the territories that surround them. Although the landscapes that inspire them differ, Ooloosie Saila (Canadian Inuit artist from Kinngait - Cape Dorset) and Josiane Lanthier (Montreal painter expatriated in Baie-Saint-Paul) share a common vision. Throughout this exhibition, C.O.A. advocates for awareness: nine artists take over the walls of the gallery, five of whom have an intellectual disability and/or an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Because there is no longer any question of drawing a distinction between these creators, the focus isn’t on the marginal status of some.
